The Glass Bead Game isn't an immediate book, and I think I had a couple of failed attempts before I read it all, but now I rate it highly enough to have lent my copy to evilmattikinz: it's worth persevering.

Hi!

It's actually sat in my bedside to-read pile now, courtesy of the library. Probably next up to start after I finish whichever of my current books (Ulysses and Embassytown) I finish first.

Well done if you're managing Ulysses; that's on my 'can't get into' list, along with Conrad's Nostromo. I can do Burroughs' stream of words and ideas in The Wild Boys but not Joyce.
